The Department of Organic Chemistry was set up at Loyola in 2003, and offers M. Sc. in Organic Chemistry.
"Tomorrow's researchers and scientists have never had it better. The best part is that you don’t have to take our word for it."
- Dr. P. ThirupathiHead of Department
The Department of Organic Chemistry began in the year 2003 to provide students with an opportunity to specialize in the field of their desire and to further create opportunities in a variety of feasible areas. We approach the teaching of organic chemistry and various other branches of chemistry in an immersive fashion.
Some key statistics for the Department of Organic Chemistry:
courses
we offer 1 PG course of 2 years
faculty
with a cumulative experience of 68 years
students
hand-picked for their love for chemistry
alumni
most of whom are masters in their field
Thanks to the excellent quality of our faculty and our obsessive attention to updating our infrastructure, the course is one of the most sought-after PG course at the Academy. Apart from academia, though, we have other tricks up our sleeve to make it a complete learning experience, such as:
Students are required to undertake projects with approved corporations or institutes during their final year as part of coursework.
Our short-term course on Instrumental Techniques is quite popular with students of all departments.
In-house projects are taken up by the students under the aegis of our illustrious faculty.
Three specialized laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment mean that our students never fall short of anything they might need as part of coursework. Drop by for a visit.
While the course, by its very nature, is one that rewards high achievers, our staff and students do plenty to make us feel proud outside of the curriculum. Here are a few achievements:
